Driving Chapin’s Future… Shaping the Way for Growth 
The Chapin Chamber of Commerce serves as a catalyst for economic growth in the Chapin community, partnering with the business community, local government agencies and economic development professionals to ensure that Chapin continues to benefit from strong growth in the Midlands region of South Carolina. Its close proximity to Columbia provides numerous employment opportunities, and many Chapin residents conveniently commute to jobs throughout the Midlands. Chapin also boasts a growing business base, with major employers including Ellett Brothers, PM Systems, and GIS (General Information Systems), to name a few.
The town is equipped with a network of utilities that includes T1 and T3 data lines, fiber optics, cable TV, roadrunner cable, several cellular network towers, and city water and sewer. All of these factors have encouraged an increase in residential and commercial development in the community over the past decade.
Census data projects that Chapin will continue to grow and the Chamber and town leaders are committed to smart, sustainable growth. As such, the town has adopted new ordinances for signs, landscaping, land use, zoning, and building design review to ensure that Chapin remains an attractive place to work, live and play for many years to come.
The increase in Chapin residents has brought a surge of commercial development. The town is home to a number of retail developments, professional services, healthcare providers, hardware and construction supply stores, specialty shops, and numerous restaurants. In fact, you can find almost anything you need right in Chapin.

Priorities
The Chamber is committed to promoting smart growth in the community, and its Economic Development Committee has identified three priorities to support this effort:
- Widening Columbia Avenue (Route 48) from Interstate 26 into the Town of Chapin to improve traffic flow and public safety as well as create a more appealing entranceway into the community.
- Supporting Lexington County’s efforts to locate a new business/technology park to secure new investment and high-paying jobs for the community.
- Working to insure Chapin maintains a business-friendly environment to promote economic growth and prosperity.
